Read the mplayer man page about fullscreen. I see you can use "c" to toggle the available fullscreen modes (I didnt know where were more than one :) And check -fs etc.
Did that :-) "c" only works if you are using the sdl driver. I have been using mainly xv and x11 with -zoom (both of which work perfectly when booted to 10.2 If I use something like: mplayer -fs -zoom -vo sdl <filename> I can get some videos to play correctly (note though that pressing "c" has no effect on output... the video flickers and continues without change) at the right full screen resolution for the current monitor settings... but... only some videos work correctly... a lot now have a thick green bar on the left, and the colors are washed out... it reminds me of what those old 3D movies looked like if you weren't wearing the Red/Blue glasses. Using xv or x11 on the TFT monitor (instead of the LCD) shows all videos correctly (ie no green bar and washed out colors)... so I would say that the videos themselves are fine.
