Hi all,
I bought a desktop with D945GCNL and installed SuSE10.3 in it. I have configured ipaddress (I don't have DHCP) gateway DNS and all that is required to get the internet up and running. But after the interface is enabled (shows 'UP' in ifconfig) I cannot ping the gateway. I have disabled all the firewall settings to elimiminate that possibility.
'dmesg' gives me: r8169: eth0 link down
and 'ifconfig eth0 restart' gives me: restart: Host name lookup failure
Please throw some light.
Bikram PS: I have windowsXP also and that accesses internet fine (that is whay I can not delete that yet :(). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
It sounds like your card has a realtek chipset, and it should be supported natively by windows, but there might be newer drivers. Try lsmod to see if r8168 is loaded, or if the system loaded r1000 instead. If the wrong one is loaded, rmmod it out and then Try insmod r8168 and see if that helps. There are drivers available from Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false These are dated January 2008. The readme describes how to make the package and configure the nic. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
