Understand that the package you d'ld from Mozilla DOESN'T install in the same dir. as the version from openSUSE. If it wasn't an RPM, then you have to manually remove the files.
Thanks, Fred. I've installed ONLY rpms. I don't have the patience to build something from a tarball.
When I fire up YaST and search for Firefox, all that's offered are two different 2.9.x versions. I removed Firefox, verified that there is no firefox file or directory anywhere on my hard disk, removed the desktop and menu items, and logged off. I logged back on, verified that there was no firefox anywhere, browsed to the openSuSE build service, searched for Firefox, and installed the rpm for Firefox 2.0.0.13. The installation succeeded.
I launched Firefox from the new link that appeared in the KDE menu, and I have Firefox 3b5.
I'm going to look into the other suggestion for making my add-ons work with this beta, because I've now spent about four hours trying to get rid of it, and there's no indication that I'm ever going to succeed with that.
I might be easier. ;) Fred -- Q: what's the difference between a teddy bear and Ballmer? A: they both have sawdust for brains but one is smart enough to keep his mouth shut. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
