Yes, I get it with ATI. I had to do a hard reboot. So I've given up on compiz. I guess what you've never had you'll never miss.
Aah yes, but, once you _have_ had it, you _will_ miss it. I have found it well worth the time it takes me to resolve the issues and get it running. I am one that has never cared too much about which desktop I run before, but the compiz interface really makes managing multiple desktops and many more windows on the same desktop much more intuitive.
