Uh - I think you misunderstood something there.
Don't let the amount of text on that page scare you. It describes the
procedure for a lot of different scenarios, even quite pathological ones.
In most cases, this just works with what is described there as "the easy way".
I am positive that this will work for your system, too.
The instructions under "the hard way" describe how to build your own kernel.
This is something I would not recommend you to do.
