The Radeon X1650 graphics card gets pretty hot, so might it just be drawing a little too much? I replaced the Radeon card with an ancient ATI Wincharger PCI-card from around 1996. And ran the same tests on the same memory configs. Which produced exactly the same results.
Maybe. The power supply could be defective. Can you measure the voltages while the test runs?
I did in fact have lm-sensors running to monitor the voltages, but I didn't keep a close eye on them. I noticed one voltage increase from 0.0V at normal operation to 0.25-0.27V during stress-testing. lm-sensors lists it as 'in7', which doesn't say much. Also, when the RAID1 is resyncing, the drives get _very_ hot, so they're using quite a bit of power.
Regardless, after Mike and David pointed me to the page in the Gigabyte manual that recommended at least a 400W powersupply, I've ordered a new one, which should be arriving tomorrow. I'll let you know how it works out.
