Per I see some of the exact same symptoms on my: Gigabyte GA-N700SL 2 Gig of Ram Raid1: 2 Seagate (ST3250410AS_6RY28WW1) SATA 250G drives in Raid 1 ATA: Maxtor_5T020H2_T2H34J2 as swap The box will just randomly (stop) under relatively high load. Not excessive load, but loads like rsync backups, spamassassin sa-learn running, etc. When it dies the call trace will identify the process that caused the demise. I have bugs open on the spamassassin issue as well as the ssh PAM issue. The most alarming thing is that when the applications are misbehaving, they are getting to and invading the kernel. I'm not sure that you and I aren't just seeing the instability that is resulting from several frequently called rouge processes that upset the kernel and destabilize the system until it dies. Sorry I don't have any better answer, but I have been chasing this for about a month now. I have another bug upon regarding the last kernel update that just will-not-install on my gigabyte raid1 setup. (period) mkinitrd crashed when attempting to create the ram disk.
