...Well, I just looked at the Intel site again, and now they say iwlwifi 1.0.0 has been "production" since 8/13/2007. So why isn't it in suse now? Or doesn't "production" mean "stable"?
Let me just say that Intel regards .0 releases as supported and for production use, and even if you have a critical bug fix it would take a real serious situation (from Intels point of view) to bring out a new .0 version. SUSE is actively working together with Intel to find problems, determine if it's in the driver or the stack, and to fix them. You can get the driver from the build service never-the-less.
Is this a general comment, Stefan, or is there some specific problem hidden within iwlwifi? I've seen no hint of trouble since I deleted ipw3945, but I certainly don't want to go on a trip if there's a possibility of finding myself without a connection!
If you have not seen any troubles, continue to use it. I remmeber that iwlwifi caused problems for some users while others had no problem. The latest patches helped a lot :) Stefan
