The VirtualBox support driver which is running is from a different version of VirtualBox. You can correct this by stopping all running instances of VirtualBox and reinstalling the software..
Virtualbox is version 1.5.2-10.1@586 from the update repo and virtualbox-kmp-default is 1.5.0_2.6.22.5_31-11@586 from oss repo. I apply all updates supplied by updater applet. uname tells me the kernel in use is 2.6.22.13-0.3-default. I have tried removing the .virtualbox folder from home, reinstalling and rebooting. Still the same error. Virtualbox was working well before, haven't used it for a week or so.
Sure. I did when I found your article and tried my VirtualBox. The VirtualBox update was installed, I guess from update repository, but kernel module wasn't updated (packaging bug?).
Thank you for investigating this. I decided to file my first bug report and found this from yesterday: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=348258
The solution is to add/enable repository: zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization:/VirtualBox/openSUS... vbox than list updates with: zypper lu -t package and if you want all updates (I did) than: zypper up -t package
If you want only VirtualBox kmp module than: zypper in virtualbox-kmp-default
Above is for default kernel.
and thanks for a solution! The other problem mentioned (kernel module not loaded automatically) is also reported: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=328887 there was talk of a fix a month ago, but nothing happened yet.
