no, I made an upgrade from an installed system. I know it's not always
ideal, but I have a number of my own rpms installed over time (nothing
that would be relevant to this issue, just various software utility
packages), plus other configuration, and from my point of view it's a
major hassle to have to install from scratch. In the past it worked
just fine - I have been doing this since Suse 6 at least with few
problems. Of course, now I have a different major hassle on my hands
:(

Can you please describe exact "upgrade" procedure you used? It would be nice to know if you literally "upgraded" by installing the new on top of the installed 10.0 or if you backed up '/' etc., wiped the partition(s) clean and performed a "fresh" installation?
