I'm not sure if you *really* want the fusion-icon to work, or if you just want compiz to work. To get compiz to auto start on my Opensuse 10.3 with KDE, I created the file ~/.kde/Autostart/compiz.desktop with the following:
[Desktop Entry] Comment= Comment[en_US]= Encoding=UTF-8 Exec=compiz --replace ccp & emerald & GenericName= GenericName[en_US]= Icon=kwin MimeType= Name= Name[en_US]= Path= StartupNotify=false Terminal=false TerminalOptions= Type=Application X-DCOP-ServiceType= X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false X-KDE-Username= X-KDE-autostart-after=kdesktop
Another thing you could try is going into the KDE Control Center and selecting KDE Components->Session Manager. Towards the bottom you should be able to change the "Preferred Window Manager" to compiz.
Hah, your signature says you are from Nacogdoches. Funny, I am from Center.

Henry, That's the rub. Even with compiz running I can NOT select compiz in the session manager because it is NOT present. All that is present is a greyed out kwin and no option and no ability to change it to anything else. There is no way you are in Center. I didn't think Linda K. allowed counter-cultures such as Linux to exist in either Shelby or Panola county. Glad to know I'm not the only one behind the pine curtain fighting the good fight. I'll try the startup script, but something is screwed if I can't even select compiz in session manager. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E.
