I have both e16 and e17 on my laptop with 10.2 (and even got entrance going for the login). The e16 configuration is a bit twitchy about sound on my machine (so is KDE BTW, but the sound is quirky on the machine anyway). The SuSE repos should install as described above without problem. The difficulty is that the e17 SuSE RPM will remove your e16 binaries (but not the e16 configuration), I currently have self compiled later version of e16 which does co-exist with e17.
No that's wrong. E17 and E16 can co-exist without any problems (e17 won't touch your e16 configuration and vice versa).

It should not, but the packman SuSE e17 rpm wipes the e16 binary files the last time I installed with SuSE 10.2. It regards itself as an update of e16. Been there, got the tee shirt, it is true e17 does not touch the e16 configuration, but that is about as useful as a chocolate teapot without the binaries as the two environments are very different. Maybe this has been fixed since I last did this (3 or 4 months ago), but this not an experiment I wish to repeat ..... As e17 is a packman rpm this is not a direct SuSE issue,,,, - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
