I was trying to find the missing symlinks as well and things were getting a bit hairy for me on that path. Then someone updated Bug #334783 with their findings, and buried in there, I was able to deduce to try the following command:
"/usr/sbin/update-alternatives --auto javaplugin"
When I restarted Firefox, my missing java plugin was back and happy.
Give it a shot and see if that cleans up the problem.

I tried the above command (as root) doesn't work as normal user which was expected. However, when brought back up Firefox I still had the problem.
I like to use the java test program from sun to prove my browser is working properly. www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
This is a serious enough problem with a wide enough problematic user experience that I would hope that SUSE comes up with a patch so that normal non-command line users can get help soon.
Using your above link, I find errors too. Hmm. At least I'm workable in Firefox right now but would love to see it completely fixed. I'm certain Novell will push out a patch ASAP. It is marked as high priority-critical in bugzilla. Being this is the weekend now, don't know how quickly that will be. Then again, I have seen patches come out on a late Saturday night, so you never know. -- ---Bryen--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
