addendum... Hi Patrick, et al Changing the default 'config' entry to 'http' in line #71 changed *something* because I'm now getting a login prompt. But I started this project so long ago and got interrupted (of course) that I've forgotten if I already set a mysql root password. It won't let me log into either phpMyAdmin or set a password via CLI ;-) I got this: linux:/etc # mysqladmin -u root password ******* mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)' So I uncommented 'password = your_password' in /etc/my.cnf and restarted mysql now I'm getting: linux:/etc # mysqladmin -u root password ******* mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)' Ideas, please?
