Mates, On my Toshiba P35 laptop with the ati Radeon 9700 chipset and the latest drivers install via yast, there is no 3D and glxgears gives only 160 FPS. The fglrx rpms installed are: Rankin-P35a:/home/david # rpm -qa | grep fglrx x11-video-fglrxG01-8.36.5-7.1 ati-fglrxG01-kmp-default-8.36.5_2.6.18.8_0.3-2.1 Kernel Installed is: Rankin-P35a:/home/david # uname -r 2.6.22.3-ccj53-default The exact error shown when running glxgears is: 12:00 Rankin-P35a:~> glxgears Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". The xorg.conf is set to load dri and the video card option have dri enabled: Rankin-P35a:/home/david # grep dri /etc/X11/xorg.conf Load "dri" Option "no_dri" "no" The only errors shown in the log file is: Rankin-P35a:/home/david # grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown. (EE) fglrx(0): GART is not initialized, disabling DRI (EE) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable I have searched exhaustively and I have not found an answer to this question. I have seen a number of posts related to the problem, but no solution. I would very much like to get 3D working, because without it, it seems like a waste of time to have the ati drivers loaded in the first place. I have gone to the ati web site and I am aware of using their install tool to create the latest 8.40 ati rpm for 10.2, but it seem that 3D ought to work with the current 8.36 rpm built by suse. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
