We are neglecting mc which acts like a 'gui', and krusader, which is really a 'gui' mc.
Well, yes. I did think of it, but decided not to mention it this time. I felt the OP wouldn't like it. However, it is a very good file manager. About krusader... well, I compare it with mc, obviously, and it falls short of the mark. Not so fast, not so reliable, misses some of the functions mc has... I often have several xterms opened with mc sessions in them, but I don't feel I could do so many things and as fast with krusader, with so few system resources. The only thing I really miss with mc is a file rename function. It does have a "move/rename", but I mean simply like "konq" [F2] functionality. Sometimes I would also like a side panel telling me the real file type, with details (like one of the konq modes do). Sigh... can't have everything, it seems :-} - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
