Hi!
I have a perplexing problem connecting to my ADSL router and local network.
After every boot I have to use YasT to reconfigure network device, that is to say - delete it - press next etc. Card is then shown in Yast as not configured.
Then I have to use YasT to configure it anew with DHCP setting, (and choose cable connect on the general tab). When YasT has configured everything, the command ifconfig gives the correct set of details and I can indeed connect to internet via router.
Joe Morris 29/1/2007 : First, what is your suse version? If this is openSUSE 10.2, are you using traditional ifup or Network Manager to control your NIC?
-----> PB: I have openSUSE 10.1 installed, use Network Manager choice from YasT in the procedures described.
Change it to traditional ifup, then edit the interface General tab to activate at boot, and problem solved. Network Manager is designed AFAIU to require a manual start, i.e. with KNetworkManager, etc. If you want it to work immediately, ifup is the way to go. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.2 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
