hi all!
have a question. have new motherboard with sata controller. SUSE 10.1, SLES and SLED both 32 and 64 bit works good. but when try to install SUSE 10.2 - it cant see sata controller, just old ata. can anybody tell what to do?
There was a major SATA driver update between 10.1 and 10.2. Or at least there was in the vanilla kernels those 2 versions were based on. Even if you can get a fix, I'm not sure how you overcome the problem at install time? Things to consider: Try a newer kernel from the SUSE factory, it should(?) work with 10.1 userland tools. File a Novell Bugzilla related to 10.2. Be sure and include hardware info. Test a 2.6.19 vanilla kernel and report any bugs to linux-ide@vger.kernel.org (that is the sata mailing list for the vanilla kernel). Test a 2.6.20-rc kernel and report. Ask on linux-ide@vger.kernel.org if there might be a BIOS setting that will help.
