Are you sure it needs setting up? I don't have one so I can't test, but the things I read on the net indicate that it should be more or less plug'n'play.
An interesting question. In the case of other things plugged into a USB port there is usually some indication that the computer has seen it. I would also think that there would be some mechanism to test the operation of this peripheral. What did you read on the net?
