No, the cifs shipped with the openSUSE 10.2 kernel does not support Win95/98 and except for my personal kernel (-> suser-jengelh), no one cared to fix it.

Either enabling smbfs or use CIFS from > 2.6.18 (I have _not_ verified that 2.6.19's CIFS can do SMB yet, but eventually CIFS will do SMB, and smbfs cna be obsoleted.) For the record, http://lkml.org/lkml/2006/5/12/179
