Is there anyone at opensuse who is "in the know" on Gnome? I like the gnome in both 10.1 and in SLED both are nice lite "no kitchen sink" approaches, that said, I can't believe that Novell would be sitting by while the KDE is the better network client with real implementations of all the the network protocols. I have been trying to follow this Gnome preference since it was announced by loading the "default" since NLD9, I have made several inquiries as to why the Gnome IGNORES SLP information, i.e. when the NCL is installed it can't find the Tree without an entry in the /etc/hosts file for the ip address of the master replica server (tree host), with no response. Even the opensuse-gnome irc channel rarely has anyone in it. what is the deal here? It seams the only thing they got with the Ximian team purchase that works is the Evolution mail client. Isn't the core code for the new software updater based on RedCarpet? so far Nat and the boys, have as far as I know, managed only to reshape the "theme" of the Gnome (a very nice job) but it really doesn't seem to do anything more than it did two+ years ago. please correct me if I'm wrong, but for now, I've loaded 10.1 with both desktops to see if the KDE passes on any of its "network maturation" to the Gnome. What a terrible waste of disk space! On the upside I don't have to fight with the command line to build an ISO, LOL K3B rules! James p.s KDE devs, please do something about the default theme, it's "M$" look and feel is boring and a bit nauseating. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
