So do tell, what is this list for then?
I have to agree with steve reilly.
Why can't we have it back like it used to be in, say 6.2? All we used to do then is talk about how to install truetype fonts or help newbies like myself ease into the new system, or help the guy who had lost half of /etc. What we tend to get now is rtfm, a list of general web references or to go away and fix it yourself. Or the political boffins. Rarely does anyone tell anyone just what to do to solve their problem. Usually it would take just 3 lines or so to directly help the poster. Everyone seems to be an expert. How dare a newbie ask a simple question like how to incorporate a truetype font under 10.1. On this list. Carlos will I am sure agree as to the refreshing simplicity of the question and answer style on the Spanish list. Maybe that's what we should try to get back to here.
