But if wiping the partition table is useless in the first place, why bother? Oh, and the partition table wasn't "in DOS". It belongs to the BIOS, independent of any operating system parted does a very thorough job, it is one of the best - if not the best - partitioning tools there are. And the YaST partitioner uses parted to do its job.
