When I checked for updates today by way of YOU (my zmd is not working), I saw the kernel update on the list and happily clicked the "Accept" button, thinking this might be a fix for some of the minor problems I've been having. After the install, instructions said I would need to re-boot after the install and then install a few modules that might be needed. Re-boot failed: ERROR (15) file not found! I used my installation disc for system rescue, and my login was not accepted. Finally got the system running by going into install and then backing out to "boot from hard drive." Have the system running now, but with no KNetworkManager (or at least no recognition of my Ethernet card), no sound, and according to boot.msg, no modules. message log starts out with:
cannot find map file no module symbols loaded - kernel modules not enabled
and a long list of "FATAL:" messages.
This is normal, since you upgraded your kernel the old modules aren't there anymore, and the "boot installed system" uses the old kernel to boot. It sounds like you have multiple systems installed on this computer, is that right?
