I had warnings in the messages log about temp, see other thread, but it turned out the vendor insists this board runs normal in the 50's. An I/O error was found in the logs after trying again which turned out to be a faulty cable after closer inspection. This I/O error was making root become read only. The system now boots and works with no issues in the logs except some LDAP errors. Also, after cleaning the disk from the initial crash and fixing all errors on the disk with 'fsck -y', X now does not want to work. I get a very blurry graphic when the display manager loads. I tried SaX2 and receive the same thing. Not sure what else may be wrong since the fsck evidently remove some system files? Not a problem to reload this machine, it is only used to store media data. I would just need to make sure my XFS LVM used across 3 SATA drives is restored. Will the new install, if done, see it and setup the disks or would I need to rebuild the LVM (without data loss). Of course, I'd prefer some help with getting X working again, but would rather do what will repair the machine the best. Thanks in advance, Robert
