Well, unfortunately, that didn't work. I feel like I'm being subjected to purgatory for using Windows all these years. If it isn't DLL-hell, I'm now in dependency hell.
Doing the test told me I needed python (which I already supposedly have), python elemental, and a bazillion other things. Trying to load python elemental (which I found on pbone.net) I got chastized for not having a bunch of other things. (I could swear I saw ctrl3d.dll in the list.)
I guess I'll just give up now. I apparently just can't get apt running. I think I might just do a fresh install (this was an upgrade) and see how that goes. I suppose I could do no worse. :P It WAS my own dumb fault for trying to upgrade instead of fresh install. I really only wanted the enhanced WiFi capibility. (Of course, it still doesn't work the way I want it to, but that's another story.)
Smart is not the same thing as apt. Apt has FAR fewer dependencies, especially since it doesn't come with a gui.
