did you look at your previous install to see what was different? Did you look at /etc/apache2/httpd.conf?
edit /etc/apache2/default-server.conf and add to it the text:
<IfModule mod_userdir.c> UserDir public_html Include /etc/apache2/mod_userdir.conf </IfModule>
the module must exist in /etc/apache2, mod_userdir.conf
as it is in your last version. (you did keep your last install as a example to use for changes to this install?)
be sure that you have added userdir to the modules in /etc/sysconfig/apache2 (do it in yast).
OK, this got it working, thanks! Could anyone explain why SuSE did such a dumb thing? They should, at least, have fixed it so that I could have set the public_html dir as default when I was installing 10.1. This was not a good idea.
