I've got 10.1 installed and it's running fine (in terms of KDE, ZEN etc) on an AMD2000+, 1GB ram, nVidia N6600GT (with the latest nVidia binary drivers). I've got a problem though with what I can best describe as video corruption.
Basically if there is any animation - for example when I'm playin a video in MPlayer or playing World of Warcraft in Cedega - there is a block or are around the mouse pointer the is not updated at the same speed as the rest of the screen.. it's about a 1/4 second behind. The result is a rectangle of corrupted display for a short period... it follows the mouse pointer around... if I stop moving the mouse, the rectangle of bad video catches up to the rest of the display and things are fine.. until I move the mouse pointer.
You probably have
Option "HWCursor" "off"
or
Option "SWCursor" "on"
in your configuration file. In that case these effects happen for XVideo
and OpenGL surfaces. Nothing that can be done about that. Thus it's best
to not use software cursor.
Note that with hardware cursors the cursor flickers on pointer bitmap
updates (e.g. with the wait pointer in firefox) with the current driver.
Nvidia is aware of that issue.
