I came across www.u3.com today. It allows you on a U3 enabled flash drive to store your applications you want to have with you. You can go than to another Windows computer and you have all your programs with you. NICE !!!
I would like to have something like that on Linux too!
I would like even to have it dual, my Linux programs, but also able to use on a Windows machine (vmplayer?)
Is there anything like the U3 concept for Linux available?
What about bootable USB drives? DSl has one preconfigured and ready to use... http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/usb.html There's dozens of websites that explain how to make a bootable USB drive with Linux preinstalled... and the capacity of these devices is way up there lately. OK, I know not exactly U3 in design where you plug into a functioning (booted) computer... but hey, if it's running Windows, you're going to want to reboot it anyway to get rid of it anyway.. right? :-) Plus no custom tweaked softwre to make it work (I assume U3 needs custom tweaked software since ther elist a suite of available software, and have links with info about becoming a U3 developer).
