So, I would have to setup six PAT routes to access any given machine/router?
one PAT route per port. So, you tell your router, any traffic coming in-bound to my IP address, using targer port 22, send to 192.168.1.7 Any traffic coming in-bound to my IP address, using targer port 1577, send to 192.168.1.8 etc etc etc ... This pre-supposes that you can change the SSH client target and listen ports, which I think you can. See MAN, he's helpul! (I'm no expert here ....)
Could you give me an example of a PAT route entry so I can see the format?
see above ... the syntax really depends on your router/firewall. The other thing is, I *believe* that once you are "in" to one host, you should be able FROM THERE to SSH to the others, so that one PAT route should be sufficient for you. Again, depending on your router/firewall there could be other options. Like, for example if it were a linux box, I think you can do "SSH forwarding" of some sort, but I am not sure what all that involves. Good luck! Peter
