The problem is::
Running xamp and SuSE apache/PHP simultaneosly is an awkward process to say at least, even if you specify different ports numbers, because, for example, PHP module from xamp for whatever reason can connect only to mysql from xamp and NOT from SuSE.
Anyway, just give a try.
