I've just installed apcupsd using YaST on a SUSE 9.3 system and am confused by what I need to do to get it to work. ... I've got a Back-UPS CS 350 with a USB connection
I have a UPS like yours working on SuSE 10.0. Here is my apcupsd.conf
UPSNAME ruisantos UPSCABLE usb UPSTYPE usb DEVICE LOCKFILE /var/lock ONBATTERYDELAY 6 BATTERYLEVEL 5 MINUTES 3 TIMEOUT 0 ANNOY 300 ANNOYDELAY 60 NOLOGON disable KILLDELAY 0 NETSERVER on NISIP 0.0.0.0 NISPORT 3551 EVENTSFILE /var/log/apcupsd.events EVENTSFILEMAX 10 UPSCLASS standalone UPSMODE disable STATTIME 30 STATFILE /var/log/apcupsd.status LOGSTATS off DATATIME 0
It is possible that it is not an optimal configuration but, it works.. :)
It works for me as well! Thanks, Rui :) For the benefit of any later readers, what I did was: (0) cat /proc/bus/usb/devices to make sure the UPS is properly plugged into USB system (1) Install package using YaST (2) Edit /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf to match above i.e. Make DEVICE line have blank device name n.b. Don't disable NETSERVER - you need this even on a standalone (3) Start apcupsd service using YaST runlevel editor. (4) Run apcaccess to test server is running. (5) Switch off mains to test UPS :) Cheers, Dave
