That seems to be the problem after all. Try googling for tulip_stop_rxtx - you'll get quite a few hits. I can't quite see if a problem has been fixed, but it might be worth updating your kernel to the most recent kernel-of-the-day (YOU).
Sorry, I've seen this thread only now and just had quick view in the past mails. It seems to me that this is the same problem I've had when installing my SUSE 10.0. Yast recocnised my Davicom as a Tulip and this did not work. I had to manually overwrite what Yast said. The thread starts here (wrong list, but got kind help anyway...): http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse/2005-Dec/0284.html After all the hints it finally worked, I did the following (copied from my mail to the mailing list): "In Yast I deleted the network card and finished Yast. Then opened Yast again and "installed" the network card again, leaving the name, that yast gave her untouched, just overwriting "tulip" by "dmfe" (in hardware details). After this eth0 was not on the list given by "infconfig" (only lo appeared). I rebooted the PC - and now the network card works as it should. I've rebooted twice, to see, if was only an accident - but it seems that first deleting and then adding the card again works better than just changing the settings." Since then my card works perfect... Hope this helps.
