Anybody here that uses gaim for Google Talk? This is SUSE 10.0, gaim-1.5.0-3. I get my client to connect, but then I get the error "Authentication Failure". I can connect with the GoogleTalk client under Windows, but would prefer to do so under Linux. I use the following account settings: Protocol: jabber Screen Name: jschrod Server: googlemail.com Resource: Gaim Use TLS if available Port: 5222 Connect server: talk.google.com No proxy Maybe somebody can give me a tip. I googled for 'google talk gaim "Authentication Failure"', but with no results. From the debug log, I can see that an SASL PLAIN authentication is sent to Google and that Google returns <failure xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-sasl"><not-authorized/></failure> Thus, it's really a problem with authentication and not with any connection. But with the same password I can connect to Google Mail/Chat and via GoogleTalk on Windows, so it shouldn't be the password. (I checked three times that I didn't make a typo... ;-) I'm out of ideas and would appreciate any input. Or, if at least somebody can confirm that gaim 1.5.0-3 works at all for Google Talk; then I would try to track down the problem elsewhere.
