Hi List;
I plan to backup one of our desktops on a regular basis via dd. I've recently started using this method for my laptop and it's working very nicely. The real difference here is that I'll need to use an external hard drive enclosure with a usb interface. I don't want to go out and buy an 80G drive and the enclosure if this won't work. My question is:
once I boot into single user mode will USB devices be visible / available to the system (SuSE 10) ? Assuming you have a USB device, why not just give it a try and let us know?
Well I tried it with a USB device I borrowed and it worked. So I bought an IDE hard drive and an enclosure, and it works great!
So, the short answer to my own question is 'yes'
I thought as much. I have used a USB drive with a Linux rescue CD, to recover data from a Windows computer.
