here in my datacenter. Which version of SuSE are you running at the
moment? If you'd like, send me the output of an ifconfig -a on your system,
and an ls on /etc/sysconfig/network, and I might in fact be able to help you
out man. =]

Thanks for you willingness to help. I solved the problem by editing
/etc/udev/rules.d/30-net_persistent_names.rules and removing the rule with
the bogus "default" MAC address. All is working fine. I did file a bug
report, but the power that be found it not worth fixing. Anyway, in response
