Hi there on the list, can anyone tell me how to back evolution up. I'm wanting to do a fresh install of SuSE 10 curently running 9.1 and I can't copy all of the files.
I have tried
gconftool-2 shutdown evolution --force-shutdown tar -cvzf evolution-backup.tar.gz .evolution .gconf/apps/evolution .gnome2_private/Evolution
and get error messages (the files that are important to me can't be copied)
I can however cp evolution to another directory in my home , but when I try to cp it to another drive I again get the error messages
I've mailed the evolution list 2 times but my mails haven't been posted there
Without seeing what the errors are we can only guess. Remember no one on this list to my knowledge has a -working- crystal ball. My best guess is that you have some files in those paths that are owned by root and and you are trying to back them up as your user. Find out which files are owned as root and change them to your user.group and the errors should go away. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998
