Got a new IBM R52 laptop with an Intel 915GM chipset capable of 1400x1050 resolution.
The unit came preloaded with Windows XP Pro, so I can confirm that resolution does indeed work.
And when I installed SuSE 10 (dual boot), the installer correctly identified the chipset capabilities.
But the actual X config file seems to be missing a modeline: Section "Monitor" Option "CalcAlgorithm" "XServerPool" DisplaySize 300 230 HorizSync 55-60 Identifier "Monitor[0]" ModelName "THINKPAD 1400X1050 LCD PANEL" Option "DPMS" VendorName "IBM" VertRefresh 50-60 UseModes "Modes[0]" EndSection
Section "Modes" Identifier "Modes[0]" Modeline "800x600" 40.00 800 840 968 1056 600 601 605 628 +HSync +VSync Modeline "1280x1024" 100.39 1280 1360 1488 1712 1024 1025 1028 1057 EndSection
I reran sax2 after the install, selected the IBM lcd laptop monitor setting, but still no modeline.
I would prefer not to hand edit this file (I wouldn't know what to put in the modeline anyway), but I have no idea how to get sax2 to properly set this video card up.
Any ideas?
Use the generic LCD settinngs in Sax2 instead of the vendor specific. I have a G41 and had the same problem. Fixed by using generic LCD with correct resolution AND refreash rate. -H
