the camera have any on-board storage?
If the camera has on-board storage (DV, tape, memory)
Does then you should be just
able to plug the camera in and copy the files over to your hard drive after it shows up in Konqueror or Gaelon. That's how I do it from my video camera.
What he means is (or what I am interpreting is) - his camcorder only has a USB connection not Firewire. So evidently dvgrab with kino can't capture the video (the implication is control of the camera from within kino so he can rewind, play, et... within kino). It does beg
question - what camera is in discussion here?
All the camcorders I am aware of have a) 8mm, b) mini-DV or c) some DVD capability. If it has the DVD capability, he would not be asking
<snip> the the
question. Thus he has either an 8mm or mini-DV tape.
So, paraphrasing his question - how does one capture video (and presumably audio) over USB?
<snip> Thanks for your answers. To clarify: this is a Samsung DV camera with a digital video tape. Has no memory modul (and SD/MMC etc card). It has firewire and USB 2.0 output. But my computer has not firewire card. That's why I asked the question. I don't want to install a firewire card if it is not absolutely needed. Rich, I will look at the links you've given as soon as I'll have a little time.
