Ryan, Sorry, Beats me. Maybe its a bug??(Sorry people).... My SGI Prism running SLES 9 is also very temperament ;) ;) Sometime things just mysteriously worked. ;) ;) ;) Not complaining here.... ;) ;) One thing I found out is, if you are having problem with your installation process (anywhere in the process) the chances of these unexplainable bugs appear will greatly increase. Thank you for the response. When i run "yast2" then navigate to Online Update I still get the error, however, when I run "yast2 online_update" it launches fine.

I am in runlevel 3. I have other servers that run at level 3 and after sshing into to any of those boxes, i dont have this problem.

Any ideas?

I think it is because your X server is not up. Is the X running? or are you in runlevel 3? However, either

case when you run yast2 or you (alias of 'yast2 online_update') from command line it should bring up

the text mode version.
