Anyone have any open source favorites for video editing and encoding?
Avidemux2 for quick cut, paste, join, etc. For extensive editing, cinelerra- http://cinelerra.org/ (I use the unofficial CVS version).
My son and I have digital cameras that create video in .mov format.
The only editing software that will open mov files directly is an up to date version of cinelerra. Other wise you will need to transcode it to an avi or mpeg first.
We would like to be able to edit video, and my son needs to export to .mpg and .wmv for inclusion in class projects that use MS apps.
There are no Linux software that can export to wmv at this point due to patent issues.
I've been trying to build Avidemux, but keep getting hit with a lot of depends during configure.
What errors are you getting? No one can help you if you don't give more info. Charles -- "The IETF motto is 'rough consensus and running code'" -- Scott Bradner (Open Sources, 1999 O'Reilly and Associates)
