Hello all,
I am trying to do a network install of Suse 10, I have setup NFS on one machine and it seems to work. I get an error "cannot find the image". My question: what is it looking for? I did Google and found info but not the answer.

I have the same problem - trying to install x64 version of 10.0 over NFS - no luck so far. It connects to the NFS server, it mounts the exported directory with the DVD copy in it, but then throws the "cannot find the image" error. Going through the log screens showed that it tries to find '/boot/x86_64/root' image which does not exist on the DVD. After looking at every possible menu in the install program found "Installation image" item (somewhere in the Expert section) which was pointing to /boot/x86_64/root. Changed it to /boot/root64. No more "cannot find image" message, but the image fails to load. After pointing to just /boot/root, it seems to load fine showing the YaST installation wizard. I can even go throught the configuration and make it start the installation, but than it complains that I'm trying to install on the wrong architecture. So I gave up for now. But if you are installing on x84 32bit probably it'll work for you.
Do I need to do any other special things? Not a newbie but not an expert either. What directory should I be pointing to on the nfs machine.

You should point to the root directory of your DVD copy. I do not know if it'll work with CD copies - I did not try.
Export the /media/dvd directory in NFS. Get an actual 4d i.e. 192.168.?.? of the NFS server and the mount point. Your install source is then 192,168.third.fourth//media/dvd. I don't think that you are required to have a 10.0 disk for the install on the client, but I could be wrong.
It does not seem to be as easy unfortunately... It's either a bug in network installation program or it's very unintuitive :) Hope it helps, Dmitry
