possible to ignore thread with Sylpheed-claws?

someone mentioned recently "Everyone stopped listening about 50 posts ago" about a certain thread which doesn't seem to die - is there an easy way to ignore such a thread at say, around the 5th to 10th post - besides setting up a filter? Sylpheed-Claws 1.9.14 TIA Steve
