I'm faced to upgrade OpenSuse 10.0 to 10.1 beta 1. I've installed previous Suse versions several times using local installation CDs and Yast2. This time I thought to try Internet Installation for the first time, to get available all packaged software. [...] That is how to apply the following Internet installation workflow http://www.opensuse.org/Development_Version#Internet_Installation
Among others I didn't find out how to find the IP address and directory path for the above download url,
Read the page you already mentioned again ;-) It clearly explains how to - find a mirror URL - get the IP (Workflow / 2. / 4.) Example mirror: ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source -> ping ftp.gwdg.de to get the IP -> pub/opensuse/.... is the needed directory Please notice that the factory tree is only frozen up to today (AFAIK) and will then be updated with newer packages as soon as they are built. This means you have to hurry if you want to have a "clean" beta1 installation - but getting fixed packages isn't that bad, so don't panic ;-)
and I don't think I came to the step where to point the YaST? installer to the installation repository (by pressing F3 and then F4).
You can already choose the installation source in the bootloader of the CD. Press F3 to see all menus, then open the menu titled "DVD" (don't ask me which F key you have to press, it should be obvious) and select FTP. Regards, Christian Boltz --
Naja das ist hier ziehmlich OT aber ich werde trotzdem mal meinen Senf hinzufügen. Senf? Beleidige nicht diese tolle Gewürzpaste, ja. ;-) [> "mrgates" und Matthias Houdek in suse-linux]
