Dear list,
once again I must waste some bandwidth because I'm unable to find my answers anywhere else... if this has been already discussed please bear with me... ;)
Some CDROM related problems I'm facing recently under SuSE 9.3 Pro:
a) eject: unable to eject, last error: Inappropriate ioctl for device. as the subject says, I'm having problems ejecting the CDROM when issuing an 'eject' command... But it works fine from YaST ("Eject" button) when you need to swap CDROMs to install from the SuSE CDs...
b) there's no way to play music CDs or DVDs as the device cannot be accessed by the players (XMMS, MPlayer, Kaffeine, Xine...).
Everything was working fine until I did an online update... could be this the cause? hmmm...
Any ideas are very welcomed! maybe I'm overseeing something obvious...
TIA, Martin ========== Martin, I think I would check the links in /dev first. Usually /dev/cdrom will

If it's a dvd, then /dev/dvd should point to something with the properties being Owner (you) and group Disk. Also, you may need to check the settings in those programs to see if they are looking for the right device. Don't know what version you updated from, but a few things changed in 9.3, so you'll have to do a bit of investigation.
