Is the latest OpenOffice version availabble as an rpm file to download from some website ? Go to http://www.openoffice.org/ and follow the download link in the middle of the page, you can't miss it. The current version 2.0 for Linux is only available as an rpm.
It would be great to have the rpm but what I found was the tar.gz and windows exe.
ls OOo* OOo_2.0.0_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz OOo_2.0.0_Win32Intel_install.exe
Since you're running SUSE, why not use the Novell version. Install from CD/DVD and then YOU to get the latest version?
