Hello everyone: Just a quick observation. Someone remarked that we now say 'IBM' and not 'International Business Machines'. But, the IBM logo is still in 'all caps' and not a combination of upper and lower case letters. It is IBM, not 'IbM' nor 'Ibm'. In the same way, we don't say 'Gesellschaft für Software and System Entwicklung', but SuSE with the lower case 'u'. So, from where I'm sitting, I like SuSE, not SUSE. Just my $0.02 worth.
When a company makes a trademark, they can make it whatever they want. If Novell/SUSE wants to create and register a name "SUSE", there's no reason why they can't. On the other hand, if they want to leave it as an acronym, then SuSE is appropriate, but they might not be able to register it as a trademark.
Think that was part of a message of change of lettering... that it was going to be their new 'logo' ( or otherwise Corporate ID ) since it is likely only we 'Susrs' have any idea at all what the gecko/geeko in the current logo is or means or has anything to do w/ at all. It's a nice mascot. but not much of a logo if it doesn't say "Suse" in any format immediately you see it. And believe me when I tell you it doesn't say anything computer to the illiterati of the Northwest. -- j Morning, Evolution in action. only the grumpy will survive Don't try to change my attitude or rearange my latitude; Don't tell me what I think, I got to get me some boat drinks
