Dear all, I recently found some drivers for the Conexant-chipset based modem on my work-laptop (Dell Latidude D610). Drivers were downloaded from www.linuxant.com and installed. Now comes the 1st shock: you need to pay for a full-version, otherwise you must use a the limited version of 14.4Kbps. And this limited version doesn't even support Fax or Voice... A simple question would be: do you know of any alternative drivers for Conexant modems? Alpha or beta versions are also valid for me as long as they provide at least 56kbps support :-) [yep, speed is fun] And from a "filosofical" point of view: why do people ask for money in the OpenSource world? I know that OpenSource != FreeSoftware but the reasons given by Linuxant on their website are not solid to me, as many many other developers do their best to provide us with drivers and products not develped officially from other triers without asking for a dime... TIA for your replies.
