But, for people stuck with Windows at burn time, is there a program that I could use to burn the CD .isos in a "proper" way?
I just opened Nero Express, select "Burn Image to Disc" and gave it the image filename and path. No problems. I never had to worry about all this padding etc etc issues. Under K3b in Linux also, I just used the menu item "Burn CD Image" or "Burn DVD Image". I never had to use any custom settings apart from the defaults. The only exception was "Verify after burning" - but that's of course totally optional. Shriramana.
