Check in your mixer of choice that the channels (especially Master, PCM, Wave) are not at zero levels or muted. For me alsamixer works best normally (unmute channels in alsamixer via the spacebar). Besides this: are all types f sounds not working (mp3, wave, ogg?). In suse 9.3 you have to install the 4 additional multimediapacks via YOU if you want to listen to mp3's and such. Peter
